The Pembroke Welsh Corgi is alert, intelligent, and surprisingly energetic for its size. They are affectionate with family and generally good with children, though their herding instinct can lead to nipping at heels. Corgis are vocal and tend to be watchful, making them effective alert dogs. They respond well to training and enjoy having a task to complete. Their adaptability makes them suitable for a range of living situations when given adequate exercise.
