The Keeshond is a friendly, lively, and affectionate breed. They are excellent family dogs and get along well with children and other pets. Keeshonden are alert and make good watchdogs without being aggressive. They are intelligent and highly trainable. Their thick double coat requires regular grooming and they shed seasonally. Keeshonden are social dogs that thrive on human companionship. They are adaptable and can do well in apartments if given sufficient exercise. They are known for their 'spectacles' — distinctive markings around the eyes.
