The Irish Wolfhound is the tallest of all dog breeds and one of the most gentle. They are calm, patient, and affectionate with their families. Despite their ancient history as fierce hunters, modern Irish Wolfhounds are sweet-natured and good with children. They have a tragically short lifespan and are prone to heart disease and cancer. Their rough, wiry coat requires regular grooming. Irish Wolfhounds are not suited to apartment living due to their enormous size. They are dignified, loyal companions for those prepared for their unique needs.
