The Flat-Coated Retriever is known as the 'Peter Pan' of retrievers for their enduring puppy-like enthusiasm. They are optimistic, good-humored, and deeply affectionate. Flat-Coated Retrievers are excellent with children and generally good with other pets. They require extensive daily exercise. Unfortunately, they have a high rate of cancer and a relatively short lifespan. Their glossy black or liver coat requires regular grooming. They are enthusiastic and joyful companions for active families.
